Microsoft has pounced on slumping Internet icon Yahoo with an unsolicited takeover offer of $44.6 billion, seeking to join forces against Google in what would be the biggest Internet deal since the Time Warner-AOL merger in 2001.
In the past Yahoo has declined offers from Microsoft but is now willing to carefully consider the bid.
Personlly I don't think this will effect Google as I think people will continue to use Google as their major Search Engine. If there is a way to screw this up then Microsoft would be the one to do it.
